The route
A 2.5-mile route descends into Providence Canyon’s orange-and-white eroded gullies. Expect about 250 feet of climbing, and be ready for wet or muddy footing on the canyon floor.
What to bring
Two liters of water, waterproof hiking boots with grip, a change of socks, sun protection, and a snack. Bring $5 for park entry.
