Information ABH collects

Depending on what you choose to do, ABH may collect:

• Contact information such as your name, email address, phone number, and optional organization details.
• RSVP and safety information such as your selected event, party size, emergency contact, hiking experience, attendance option, waiver verification, and accessibility or planning notes you provide.
• Your separate choices about event updates, photo use, reviews, testimonials, and gallery publication.
• Membership and purchase records, including payment status and processor references. ABH does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
• Program applications, sponsor inquiries, shop-research answers, messages, and correction or removal requests you submit.
• Operational records needed to prevent duplicate registrations, reconcile payments, document attendance, maintain security, and respond to support requests.

How ABH uses information

ABH uses information to provide the service you requested: manage events and capacity, verify waivers, process purchases, confirm eligibility, send requested or transactional messages, support members, run community programs, respond to inquiries, protect participants, maintain records, and improve the site. A marketing choice is separate from an RSVP, waiver, purchase, or product-research response.

When information is shared

ABH shares only what is reasonably needed with service providers that help operate the site and requested services, including site hosting, database and media storage, payment processing, email delivery, authentication, and event tools. Current services may include Cloudflare/OpenAI Sites, Stripe or CCBill, Klaviyo, Resend, ChatGPT authentication, Meetup, and Discord. Their own policies apply when you follow a link or use a service they operate.

ABH may also disclose information when required by law, to protect a person’s safety or ABH’s rights, or in connection with a business reorganization. ABH does not sell personal information and does not use advertising pixels on this site.

Cookies, local storage, and analytics

Necessary cookies or similar storage may support sign-in, security, checkout, saved privacy choices, and other features you request. Optional first-party analytics run only after you choose “Allow analytics.” They count fixed page categories and broad referral-source categories by day. They do not send the page URL, search terms, raw referrer, account identity, contact details, or form contents. ABH also honors browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals for this measurement.

You can reopen Privacy choices at the bottom of the screen and change your selection. Choosing “Necessary only” stops future optional counts on that browser. Clearing browser storage may reset your choice.

Photos, reviews, and communications

ABH uses recognizable event photos, names, written reviews, or testimonials publicly only through the applicable permission and review process. You can ask ABH to change or remove approved public material. Email updates require a separate choice and include a way to unsubscribe; operational messages tied to an RSVP, purchase, safety matter, or support request may still be sent when needed.

Retention and security

ABH keeps information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above, legal and accounting duties, safety records, disputes, and fraud prevention. Retention varies by record. ABH uses access controls and service-provider safeguards designed to protect information, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may request access, correction, deletion, a change to marketing preferences, or removal of approved public media. Some information may need to remain where law, payment records, safety, fraud prevention, or a legal claim requires it. ABH may verify that a request comes from the person concerned.

Children

This site and ABH’s adult membership and leadership programs are not directed to children under 13. ABH does not knowingly collect personal information online from a child under 13. Contact ABH if you believe a child provided information through the site.

Changes and contact

ABH may update this policy when its services or practices change. The effective date above will change with a material update.
